distractions

If you are newly working from home because of the COVID-19, you have probably realized by now that the home is full of distractions.

A distraction is something that takes your attention away from what you’re doing or interrupts your concentration.

For example, a television. If a TV is a distraction, plan what you want to watch ahead of a day, or even ahead of a week, and turn it off when you’re not watching it.

For me a new book is a big distraction. I don’t buy one when dealing with a tough deadline. If I see a new book on the other side of the table, it’s too hard to resist.

Kids can present distractions as well. When they see you at home, they’re likely to expect you to play with them. However, you’ve been working for some time and need a break, then playing with a kid may be a welcome distraction.

Now, would you like to try a quiz? You’ll be given 3 options, so choose the one that is NOT correct. Ready?

A distraction means:
(1) interruption
(2) concentration
(3) entertainment
